a couple weeks ago i started making some noise about buttons. goat buttons to be exact. the thing is, i was just a big ol’ ball of tease because nobody in their right mind had any idea what on earth i was talking about. well, it’s time to change that.
those who joined rick gresh and giuseppe and me at the rabbit dinner last week not only chowed down on some tasty food, but they were the first recipients of our goat buttons. these buttons, each printed with a unique number, are a possible ticket to a preview dinner for ‘girl and the goat’ that’ll be held at the restaurant before it opens, some time in mid-june. we had a lot of these buttons made, so obviously not everyone will be able to go. HOWEVER, we will be drawing numbers at random and posting them on the site, like a raffle – and if your number is drawn, you and a guest will be eating with the goat before anyone else!
and here’s how this is gonna shake down…
tomorrow marks the first day of the outdoor market season for green city market, and i’ll be there for a casual visit with buttons in tow. you see me and ask for a button, you get a button! pretty easy, right? and that’s gonna be the theme of this whole thing.
as we’ve done with the goat dinners and the themed dinners with rick and giuseppe, we’ll be working closely with locals farms and featuring local and sustainable product year-round. those who know me, or who know of me, hopefully know how important a principal this is for me. in fact, i’ll be posting a blog about a recent visit to a wisconsin farm where i helped with a pig kill! so, in the days to come, i’ll be appearing in places that either support or help spread this way of eating and cooking.
it starts with the market tomorrow and i’ll also be there on saturday – SATURDAY IS THE BIG DAY. starting at 11:30 on saturday i’ll have some snacks for you to munch on and the buttons. double bonus, i guess.
i’ll also be appearing at the 61st market with some kids from common threads who will help me cook, and obviously the buttons will be with me. but yet another bonus… if you buy the new common threads cookbook while you’re there, you’ll be scoring extra buttons! kind of a win-win.
i might possibly team up with rootstock for a buy a local beer, get a button kind of thing – but that’s not quite official. will keep you posted!
and again, if you know me, you know i’m spontaneous. there’s a lot of buttons to go around, so who knows what else might be in store. best thing to do is check twitter and facebook often…
this should be fun, and will hopefully have people asking, “hey. got buttons?”
